Randy Burridge, who spent the 1997-98 season with the NHL's Buffalo Sabres, scored a hat trick to lead the Las Vegas Thunder to a 7-4 win over the Utah Grizzlies on Saturday.
Trevor Roenick and Burridge put the Thunder (1-3-0) up 2-0 in the first period, with goals at 10:14 and 11:04.J.F. Jomphe padded the lead with a power play goal at 3:28 of the second stanza, and Sean Berens followed 86 seconds later with the Thunder's fourth goal.
Utah (1-3-0) rallied to within 4-3 before the intermission, getting goals from John Purves, Rod Miller and Jeff Sharples.
But Burridge notched his second tally at 18:56 to put the game out of reach.
Kevin Kaminski rounded out the Thunder scoring, while Rene Chapdelaine had a third-period goal for the Grizzlies.
Winning goalie Scott Langkow faced 34 shots and made 30 saves.
