Beatrice Jensena Mortensen Hanson passed quietly into eternal rest Monday, October 19, 1998 to join her husband Edwin Hanson who preceded her June 11, 1992. They were married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple in April 1924.
She is survived by her five children Bryant Edwin (Cherry) of Bountiful, Utah, Beverly Diane Keathley (Earle) of Oregon, Shirley J. Hyatt of California Richard M. (Phyllis); Larry A. (Ann) ,of Salt Lake City.Her surviving sisters are June Randall of Thompson Falls, Montana and Angela (Jack) Hallahan of Las Vegas. Beatrice was a strong and dedicated mother and wife. She was reared in a large family in frontier conditions as her parents homesteaded in Montana and Idaho and her father George Mortensen often saw greener pastures which beckoned him to move the family frequently. His generosity and human kindness is legendary. Her mother, Polly Janet Stringham Mortensen, lived to age 93 and was a model of sweetness and long suffering. Beatrice was endowed with many of the virtues of her parents and was a devoted member of the church, serving three proselyting missions with her husband before ill health forced a retirement. She was a talented beautician, serving as a national styling representative for her employer for several years. She leaves a legacy of love for music, after devoting much of her time and energy in supporting the training and efforts of her children and grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at Memorial Estates Mountain View, 3115 East 7800 South, Salt Lake City on Friday, October 23, at 2:00PM, Friends may call at the mortuary one hour prior to services. Interment will be in the Mountain view Cemetery and Mausoleum.
