Police arrested four Greenpeace activists who lashed themselves to a cargo ship for two days to protest logging operations in a Canadian rain-forest.
The activists, dressed in bright orange jumpsuits, tied themselves to the Thorseggen's loading crane on Tuesday and unfurled a banner that read: "Stop Destroying the Great Bear Rainforest."Great Bear Rainforest is the activists' name for a five-million hectare swath of the central British Columbia coast, an area about half the size of Kentucky.
At the request of the ship's owner, about 20 officers boarded the 570-foot vessel Thursday afternoon and arrested the four protesters for trespassing.
Several others who attempted to block the ship's path were detained but not charged.
