Smoke and fumes in the cabin forced a United Express flight bound for Denver to return to Mitchell International Airport.
A hydraulic line in stairs at the rear of the plane malfunctioned, sending hydraulic fluid fumes into the rear of the cabin, airline spokesman Bill Jordan said. There were 85 passengers and four crew members on the commuter plane Sunday, he said. United Express is the commuter service for United Airlines.
A passenger and a flight attendant who complained of headaches were treated at a hospital, Jordan said. Another passenger who complained of feeling ill refused treatment.
