In the early hours of October 6, 1998 Leo L. Harney, the kindest, gentlest man I've ever known, left this life to meet his God. Leo has overcome many obstacles in his life, today he could fight no longer, he was too tired, he died from complications of pneumonia.
Leo was born in Ridgeway, Colorado March 27, 1938. He joined the US Marine Corps and served in the Korean War. Leo left this world a sober member of Alcoholics Anonymous. He cherished the special friends and extended family he met in the fellowship.Leo is survived by his wife, Donella, who loved and cared for him untiringly since his ill health began; his children, Vickie (Alan) Burrow, Ken (Cindy) Harney, Sherrie (Mike) Giroux, Mike (Roselle) Harney. Leo was a super-grandpa and "pa" to his 12 grandchildren, Christina, Chad, Mike, Reggie, Chris, Angela, Brad, Natalie, Shaun, Greg, Jacob and Janae; also a great- grandpa to Jaden, Nastasya, Trey and Alexis. Also survived by one brother, one sister and Donella's family. Preceded in death by parents and other family members. Funeral services will be held Saturday, 2 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road where friends may call Friday, 6-8 p.m. and Saturday, 1-1:45 p.m. Interment, Murray City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Leo's name to the Alano Club, 5056 South 3rd West, Murray, Utah 84107.
