OREM -- How do you feel about changing the boundaries of local elementary schools? Alpine School District wants to hear your opinions.
Another public hearing to discuss changes to at least six Orem elementary schools will be held at 7 p.m. today at Orchard Elementary School, 1035 N. 800 East.Alterations to the boundaries for Lindon and Pleasant Grove schools will be debated at 6 p.m. meetings at Manila Elementary School, 1726 N. 600 West, on Dec. 7 and Dec. 9-10.
Changes are being pondered to make room for two new $6.5 million schools in Orem and Pleasant Grove. Two additional elementary schools will be built in the next four years in anticipation of a 7,000-student growth spurt by 2002.
Voters in June approved a $60-million general obligation bond and $6.9 million leeway to fund the new schools. The public-revenue package kicks up property taxes on $100,000 property $63.50 over three years.
