LAYTON -- Brittany Hazen poured in 18 points and the Layton Lancers avoided a total collapse to post a 58-55 preseason victory over Bonneville Tuesday.
Rachael Patterson added 16 points for Layton (2-0), which broke open a tie game at halftime to take a 17-point lead with three minutes left to play.The Lakers (0-2) then put up a furious rally, roaring back to cut the lead to three points with eight seconds remaining.
A game-tying 3-point attempt came up short for Bonneville as the Lancers held on for the win. Kelsy Stireman led all scorers with 24 points, including three 3-pointers, for Bonneville.
