George Wallace Johnson, 81, of Salt Lake City, died November 30, 1998.
Born August 2, 1917 in Glendale, Utah, to Marcellus and Josephine Adair Johnson. He served in the US Army in Texas and Ogden, Utah, from 1938 to 1940. He was employed at Kennecott Copper Corporation and for the State of Utah, retiring in 1979. Married Helen Jardine December 15, 1940, later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on December 15, 1948. She passed away February 6, 1980. Married Carmen Roscoe, November 25, 1981 in the Salt Lake Temple, she passed away June 3, 1990.He was an active member of the LDS Church, living many years in the Haven Ward. He enjoyed working in the Salt Lake Temple.
He is survived by his children, Patty Bergen, Salt Lake, Evelyn Waters, St. Johns, Arizona, James Wallace Johnson, Salt Lake, Robert Drew Johnson, Sparks, Nevada and Ruby (Russell) Roberds, Salt Lake, stepdaughters, Tracy (Scott) Shurtliff, Salt Lake, Lauri (Dennis) Leonhardt, Salt Lake; 15 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and six step-grandchildren, his sister, Grace Stratton, Las Vegas, Nevada, brothers, Lowell (Zelma) Johnson, Kanab, Utah and Norris (Dorie) Johnson, Magna, Utah. Preceded in death by his parents, brother, Floyd Johnson.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, December 5, 1998, 11 a.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary/Cemetery, 10600 South 1700 East, Sandy.
