The State Board of Education has revoked the teaching certificate of a man who faces court sentencing for pleading guilty to charges in connection with having a sexual relationship with a student.

David B. Weekes, a former Weber High School teacher, lost his certification Tuesday by default.Weekes has pleaded guilty to forcible sexual abuse, a second-degree felony, according to State Office of Education records provided to the Utah Professional Practices Advisory Commission.

Weekes was ordered to undergo a 90-day evaluation at the Utah State Prison before sentencing next spring, the state office reported.
