PROVO -- A former contractor who investigators say did shoddy work throughout Utah County for years has been ordered by a 4th District judge to pay $300 a month in restitution.

Samuel Roy Lavulavu was ordered to pay $9,142 in restitution after he pleaded guilty to contracting without a license in a 1995 case in Provo. Utah County Deputy Attorney Laura Cabinella told Judge Guy Burningham Thursday that as of the beginning of this week, Lavulavu had only paid $1,970 and had made his last payment in April.Lavulavu's attorney said he has since paid another $300 toward this case and $1,500 in another case in Orem. Burningham ordered Lavulavu to pay monthly.

"It's time for the victims in this case to start getting some of the benefit of the restitution," he said.
