ST. GEORGE, Utah--Our loving father, grandfather, brother, and husband, Myron C. "Mike" Gale, 84, passed away Wednesday, December 2, 1998 at Dixie Regional Medical Center following a short illness.

He was born June 5, 1914 in Ogden, UT to Thomas Clyde and Edith R. Gale. He married LaVern Sloan in 1934. They were the proud parents of three daughters and one son. They were later divorced. He married Ellen Cannon Neilson in 1960. Together they built a life of love and companionship.Mike was educated in Ogden, UT and joined the Utah Highway Patrol in 1941. He served as Director of the Utah State Police Academy for several years and was Governors Aid to Governor Calvin Rampton for the first five years of the Governors administration. Mike retired from the Highway Patrol in 1970 and settled in St. George.

He loved to fish and hunt and was especially happy when he was with his family and friends at this mountain cabin in Little Pole Canyon, east of Heber City, UT. He was recently captioned in two five-generation pictures with two great-great-grandsons. We are saddened to think that these two darling babies will not know the great love and strength of this great man.

Mike is survived by his loving wife, Ellen; three daughters: Jane (Huck) Churchfield of Ivins, UT; Peggy (Joe) Giles of Heber, UT; Tammy (Paul) Allman of Lehi, UT; a son: Michael (Cheryl) Gale of Sanders, AZ; two sisters: Ruth (Newton) Tuttle; and Emily (Paul) West; 15 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Mike was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: Ray Gale and Lewis Gale; and one sister: Lucille Isackson.

Funeral services will be Sat., December 5, 1998 at 1 p.m. at the St. George East LDS Stake Center, 607 East 76 South, St. George. Visitations will be Friday, December 4, 1998 from 6-7 p.m. at the Metcalf Mortuary and Saturday from 11:30 a.m. prior to services at the Stake Center. Interment will be in the St. George City Cemetery under the direction of Metcalf Mortuary, 673-4221.
