Heralding the imminent turn of the century, the Deseret News 1999-2000 Church Almanac includes two features unique to the 1900s.

The first is a list of the top 10 stories of the century, as judged in a special poll conducted by the Church News of Church members, seminary and institute instructors and local leaders. The second is a review of the significant events of the 20th Century, a fascinating picture of the Church as it grew from some 272,000 to 10.4 million members.Fittingly, the new almanac, which came off the presses this week, is the largest ever at 576 pages. It includes within its pages up-to-date information on all the General Authorities and general auxiliary presidencies, new temples, additional country histories, new missions, as well as a review of major events in the history of the Church and a detailed review of the past two years.

The 1999-2000 Almanac also contains current statistics of the membership in areas and countries of the world.
