Tanisha Robinson, a Laurel in the Liberty 1st Ward, Liberty Missouri Stake, was recently elected Missouri Girls State governor. She will preside over the 58th Session in 1999. She is a straight-A student who plays varsity basketball and volleyball and is a member of the Spanish Honor Society. She was one of 330 students chosen to attend the Missouri Scholars Academy at the University of Missouri for three weeks of rigorous academic study.Centenarians
Ethel Westenskow Perry celebrated her 100th birthday recently. She was born Oct. 30, 1898 in Manti, Utah, and married George W. Perry in the Salt Lake Temple in 1917. After living the first eight years of their married lives in Oregon, they moved to Holladay, Utah, where he was watermaster and operated a fruit farm. She was widowed when she was 50 years old, and has since taught theology, worked in family history work, performed temple work and filled a mission in England at age 72. She raised three children and has 13 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren and 23 great-great-grandchildren. She is a member of the Farmington 5th Ward, Farmington Utah Stake.
Elizabeth McArthur Gardner of the St. George 1st Ward, St. George Utah Stake, remembers when culinary water was routed from open ditches to pipes, and when candles and kerosene lamps were replaced by electricity. Born Nov. 12, 1898, in St. George, Utah, she recently celebrated her 100th birthday. She has resided most of her life in the town where she was reared. She married Wayne C. Gardner Dec. 23, 1925, in the St. George Temple and raised five children. Her husband died Jan. 15, 1949, while attempting to reach his snowbound livestock in the Arizona Strip during severe winter storms. She has 22 grandchildren, 72 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
