Keegan, 13, was born on Sept. 4, 1998. A sports nut, he likes football, basketball, baseball, hackeysack and in-line skating. Understandably, he wants to play sports when he grows up. Keegan is of Caucasian and African-American heritage.

Keegan is in the seventh grade, where he receives special education services. He is on medication for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.Keegan has been in numerous placements since September 1994 and is ready for an adoptive family. He will need to stay in touch with his sister, Haven, who is also listed.

Due to abuse in his birth home, he has difficulties trusting and accepting authority figures and has trouble taking responsibility for his actions. He gets along with his peers but is at a somewhat superficial level.

Keegan needs a two-parent family in which he is the youngest child. Keegan is a young man who will need support and understanding as he goes through his teen years, as well as a strong role model. Financial assistance for medical care, therapy, travel and adoption is available.

Editor's note: Every week the Deseret News profiles a special-needs child available for adoption through the Adoption Exchange. An estimated 35,000 children are considered "special needs" because they are from an ethnic minority, disabled, older or hard to place because there are several siblings who need to be placed together. Anyone interested in a child may call the exchange at 359-7700.
