POINT OF THE MOUNTAIN -- An inmate escaped from the Promontory Correctional Facility Friday but was recaptured two hours later, Corrections officials said.
Nicolas Angel-Rivera, 31, threw his coat over the razor wire of a fence and climbed over about 2:15 p.m., Utah Department of Corrections spokesman Jack Ford said. Angel-Rivera followed railroad tracks into Sandy and hid in a mobile home park at 9278 S. 700 West.Corrections officers used bloodhounds to track the inmate, Ford said. The man was taken into custody and placed in a maximum security unit at the Draper prison.
Angel-Rivera was serving time for assault and possession of a controlled substance, Ford said.
