SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- A Mormon missionary in Argentina sustained minor injuries after being shot in the leg.

Mike Cates, a graduate of Highland High School, and his companion were confronted by a drunken man on the streets of Montegrande, near Buenos Aires, on Friday. Authorities said the man shot Cates with a .22-caliber pistol.Police believe the shooting was random and that the man who confronted the missionaries may have been involved in two other shootings that day.

Cates was expected to spend a couple of days at a hospital before recuperating at the church's mission home in Argentina. He is the third missionary from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to be shot in Argentina in less than two years.
