SALT LAKE CITY -- Helen C. Nelson, age 75, passed away Friday, December 4, 1998, in Salt Lake City.
She was born February 8, 1923, in Kaysville, Utah, a daughter of Ralph Layton and Vera Estella Layton Cottrell. She married Joseph Peart. He preceded her in death. She married Douglas Allen Nelson on June 2, 1977, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.She was an active member of the LDS Church throughout her life. She loved music and enjoyed traveling with her husband. Helen was a very kind and loving person whose smile would always brighten up a room. She will leave a lasting legacy of love and kindness for all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband of Salt Lake; four stepsons, Allen Nelson and Gregory Nelson, both of California; Vaughn Nelson, Salt Lake; and Michael Nelson, West Valley City; several grandchildren; one brother, Dr. Ralph L. (Lee) Cottrell, Jr., South Ogden; two sisters, Ruth (Walt) Doman, Sacramento, CA; Ann Hackley, Missoula, MT; one sister-in-law, Nell Cottrell, West Valley City. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Frank.
Funeral services will be held at the Salt Lake Canyon Rim 4th Ward, 3051 South 2900 East, at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 8, 1998, with Bishop David Garrett officiating. Viewing will be Monday from 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the Canyon Rim Ward. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Cemetery.
