Two years ago my husband and I attended the Manheim Steamroller concert at the Capitol Theater. It was a wonderful concert in a grand setting. The special effects were incredible, the music was inspiring and the crowd of people tasteful.

Recently my husband and I attended the Manheim Steamroller Christmas concert at the E Center. We had invited guests from out of town to attend with us. What a huge disappointment this was. I have never been so humiliated. The music was again incredible, but the surroundings were atrocious. Sitting in my seat, trying to listen to the music, people were leaving their seats to get hot dogs, nachos and drinks. People were carrying on lengthy conversations during music that I paid a lot of money to listen to. Twenty minutes before the concert ended, people were heading for the exits. Not to mention the Coke that was spilled on me.I feel that we need to show a lot more respect to the performers as well as the patrons. How insulting it is to the musicians for the public to be eating as if they were at a hockey game, talking as if this was their personal forum and walking out early. Come on, Utah, show some class. We need to learn some manners if we are to welcome the world in 2002.
