CLEARFIELD -- The city won't be getting a new road near the Greenhills subdivision on the city's north end, but it may get a park there someday.
The City Council has decided a road on vacant land between the housing and the Union Pacific Railroad tracks would be too expensive and would not be beneficial enough to the area.Last spring the council denied a rezone for the 1.5 acres of land at 678 W. 725 North to accommodate a proposed complex of storage sheds.
The Clearfield Parks Department believes the several acres of land would make a good park for the area.
City Manager Jack Bippes said he'll work with the Parks Department to prioritize its park land acquisition in the city.
He said the city would have to purchase 1.5 acres for a future park, but the owners currently feel it is worth some $100,000 an acre -- far more than the surrounding residential land.
