MASSMUTUAL TO DISTRIBUTE A RECORD DIVIDEND PAYOUT

MassMutual, which is represented in Utah by Intermountain Financial Group, will distribute an increased estimated dividend payout of $1.01 billion to its policyholders next year, the highest in the company's history.The estimated dividend payout for 1999, which will be distributed to holders of participating life insurance, annuity and disability income policies, is $62.5 million above the estimated 1998 amount of $949 million, a 6.6 percent increase.

The increase reflects expense savings from the company's merger with Connecticut Mutual Life Insurance Company and improved mortality experience.

SHIELDS IS ACCREDITED FOR 3 YEARS BY U.S. BOARD

Shields Orthotic Prosthetic Services Inc. has received a three-year accreditation award from the American Board for Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics Inc.

Shields has been offering orthotic and prosthetic services in the Salt Lake Valley since 1965. A satellite office was opened in Ogden in 1997.

The American Board award represents the highest level of accreditation achievable in the profession.

PENNA POWERS AGENCY WINS KEN GARFF CONTRACT

Ken Garff Automotive Group has selected Penna Powers Cutting & Haynes as its advertising agency of record.

The Garff group has 10 car lines sold in 10 dealerships in Salt Lake City, South Towne and Provo.

PPCH will focus its advertising and communications on one goal: to sell more cars while spending less per car, according to a press release. This will be accomplished by generating more consumer and name awareness for the Garff group.

W. JORDAN CHILD CENTER GETS LOAN FOR A DAY CARE

West Jordan Child Center has received a Small Business Administration loan through Deseret Certified Development Company to build a large day-care facility.

The three-story, 15,000-square-foot building is located at 7195 S. Redwood Road, and it will serve newborns through 12-year-olds.

HIGH COUNTRY RECEIVES SBA LOAN TO BUY STORE

High Country Health Foods recently received a Small Business Administration loan through Deseret Certified Development Company to help it purchase a retail store in Park City.

The 3,000-square-foot building, located at 1680 Ute Blvd., will be used by High Country as a retail outlet store for food and health-care products.

High Country is a family-owned business that was founded in St. George.

NITRO-PAK PREPAREDNESS TO BUILD HEADQUARTERS

Nitro-Pak Preparedness of Heber City recently received a Small Business Administration loan through Deseret Certified Development Company to build a new corporate headquarters.

The 44,000-square-foot building will house Nitro-Pak's inventory of more than 2,000 emergency products. The $2 million structure was designed by George Bennett Architecture of Heber City, and Hansen & Rice General Contractors of Boise is building it.

The building should be finished this month.
