ROOSEVELT -- A Roosevelt teen was listed in serious condition Monday after suffering a massive electrical shock Friday when the irrigation pipe he was holding came into contact with a 69,000-volt transmission line.

Nathan Snow, 16, was in a field near his home putting up irrigation pipe for the winter when he lifted one end of the pipe to dislodge dirt and the pipe struck the overhead transmission line.He suffered third-degree burns to his hands and feet and second-degree burns to his arms and legs. The accident occurred about 9:30 a.m. and knocked out power to most of Roosevelt for a matter of minutes before power was automatically restored to the Moon Lake Electric substation.

Moon Lake Electric crews responded to the substation to fix the line but did not see the youth and were unaware of what caused the outage. Snow wasn't discovered until about two hours after the accident when he was able to call out and attract the attention of a boy riding a bike up the road.
