TRENTON, N.J. (AP) -- Doug Palmer has his standards.

The mayor of Trenton deemed the scruffy Christmas tree delivered last week "unacceptable," and now he wants a replacement."This tree simply isn't suitable," Palmer said. "Man, we need another tree. Everyone around here is calling it the 'Charlie Brown' Christmas tree."

The mayor's spokeswoman, Renee Killian, placed a special order for the $300 tree months ago but said she ended up with a "twig." "It doesn't exactly light up the festive spirit," she said.

The city is hoping that someone with an appropriately grand tree will contact the mayor's office or the Department of Recreation, Natural Resources and Culture.
