Wally Allen, beloved husband, adored father, loving grandfather and true friend, died December 5, 1998, of cancer.

He was born December 10, 1921, in Salt Lake City, to Heber S. Allen and Elizabeth Hardy Allen. He served an LDS mission to the northwestern states and trained as a Navy pilot in World War II. After the war, he graduated from the University of Utah in marketing and business where he was active in student affairs. He married Mary Ruth Leaver on July 1, 1948 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.Wally was always unselfish in his willingness to help his neighbors and daughters with projects around the house and yard. He loved to golf, camp, and fish with his family. His positive outlook and attitude, especially while his health was failing, was an inspiration to many.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; his three daughters, Suzanne (Lynn) Christensen, Sherry, and Elizabeth (Jim) Cronkrite; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild; his two brothers, Dr. Joseph H. Allen (Jean), Nephi S. Allen (Marge); and his sister, Amy Pulsipher (Bill). Preceded in death by parents, and granddaughter Heather.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday, December 9, 1998, at the Mount Olympus Stake Center, 3862 East Oakview Drive. Friends may call at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 Highland Drive, on Tuesday, December 8, from 6-8 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment, Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
