BOISE, Idaho -- An online writing tutorial created by a Boise State University professor is being translated into another language and used by students all over the world.

In addition to other topics, English associate professor Chuck Guilford offers information on how to organize ideas, the mechanics of writing, documentation procedures and how to write informal and argumentative essays. The tutorial, which can be accessed from the Internet, is being used in Australia, New Zealand and China. It also is being translated from English into Serbian.

One of its strongest components, students said, is that it helps people with varying writing aptitudes. Educators are also using it in their English as a Second Language classes.

"Many people are not confident in their writing abilities. This allows us to reach those who are somewhat isolated from universities," Guilford said.
