JASON LEE, San Juan, 6-1, 185, Sr. Muscular running back was instrumental in helping the Broncos win the 2A state championship. He scored 25 TDs and rushed for 1,400-plus yards with an average of 10 yards a carry.
2A co-MVP
ALAN MOURITSEN, Grantsville, 5-10, 180, Sr.
Great running back took the 2A world by storm during his career. He leaves with a career state-record of 77 touchdowns. He rushed for 1,920 yards and had over 648 yards receiving this year.
QUARTERBACKS
JOEY EDMUNDS, South Summit, 6-0, 160, Jr.
Accurate thrower averaged about 200 yards and three TDs a game for second-place Wildcats. "He's as good as anyone I've been around." -- Coach Garry Walker.
KYLE ALLEN, Millard, 6-3, 185, Sr.
Passed for 1,839 yards and 32 TDs and ran for 162 yards and two scores as a QB; he also picked off 12 passes playing in the defensive backfield.
RUNNING BACKS
TREVOR STEPHENSON, Millard, 5-11, 170, Jr.
Rushed for 1,427 yards and 21 touchdowns while tallying 422 yards and five TDs through the air for the Eagles; had 2,661 total yards.
ZANE GROLL, Rich, 5-10, 170, Sr.
Rushed for 1,760 yards in 10 games and scored 21 touchdowns. "He's one of the most exciting kids I've ever coached." -- Coach Jerre Holmes.
WIDE RECEIVER
MIKE TURNER, Millard, 6-2, 195, Sr.
He was a dream and a nightmare for QBs. As a receiver, he hauled in 887 yards receiving with 13 TDs, and on defense he had nine interceptions.
JOE GOATES, South Summit, 6-0, 170, Sr.
Had three TD catches in title game and averaged about eight catches. "Most sure-handed receiver I've ever worked with." -- Coach Garry Walker.
AMEEN SHAHEEN, North Sevier, 6-4, 180, Sr.
Had 30 receptions for 429 yards. "He was double-teamed from the get-go. I think he's as good as there is at the 2A level." -- Coach Craig Gladwell.
TIGHT ENDS
JOEL BUTLER, Grantsville, 6-5, 240, Sr.
Was extremely tough on both sides while playing more downs than any player in school history. As a D-lineman, he racked up 55 solo tackles and 69 assists, and he had six receiving TDs as TE.
JAMES CHAVEZ, South Summit, 6-4, 190, Sr.
Strong two-way player had four defensive TDs and some big sacks, especially in the semifinal game. "He was our big-play guy all year." -- Coach Garry Walker.
OFFENSIVE LINEMEN
CLINT BAUER, Grantsville, 5-10, 185, Sr.
Gutsy player in the trenches opened some big holes for Alan Mouritsen. "He was our offensive line leader. He was great." -- Coach Kevin Butler.
JESSE CHRISTIANSEN, San Juan, 6-4, 200, Sr.
Great two-way lineman was a force. He had 111 total tackles and "was a tenacious player who made very few mistakes." -- Coach Art Burtenshaw.
CAMERON HERMANSEN, Manti, 6-2, 185, Sr.
Three-year starter had a standout senior season with 99 total tackles (23 solos), 12 sacks for a 70-yard loss and three fumble recoveries.
DEFENSIVE LINEMEN
JASON ARTHUR, Grand County, 6-3, 220, Sr.
Defensive end powered his way to 32 solo and 88 assisted tackles, while also making seven sacks, four deflections, forcing five fubmles and blocking five kicks.
BRANDON ALLEN, Kanab, 6-2, 220, Sr.
Rugged lineman notched 13 sacks, 88 tackles with 12 for losses, four batted passes, four caused fumbles. Played both ways and on every special teams.
DANNY FLANNERY, San Juan, 6-5, 200, Sr.
"Scoot" pressured QBs for 10 sacks. "He got better and better every day. Danny has the size, the speed and the longest arms I have ever seen." -- Coach Art Burtenshaw.
DAN MARCHANT, South Summit, 5-11, 185, Sr.
Nose guard had more tackles on D-line than anyone else. "He had great lateral pursuit and went from sideline to sideline with good speed." -- Coach Garry Walker.
LINEBACKERS
MATT McFADDEN, Kanab, 6-1, 195, Sr.
Cowboys' leading tackler had 124 total tackles, including 15 for losses. He had six sacks, two INTs, two fumble recoveries. He also rushed for 700-plus yards.
FRANCE NIELSON, San Juan, 6-1, 185, Sr.
Excellent athlete had four INTs and 121 tackles as an outside linebacker. "France is a very dependable, unselfish player." -- Coach Art Burtenshaw.
MITCH DURBIN, Juab, 6-1, 185, Sr.
Two-year starting linebacker excelled on both sides of the ball. He had 97 assisted tackles, 20 solo tackles, 14 sacks and was a solid blocker.
DEFENSIVE BACKS
CHAD STURGILL, Kanab, 5-11, 160, Sr.
Speedster had five interceptions and 10 batted passes on D. Also led team in receptions and had two TDs as a part-time return specialist.
TODD BRADFORD, San Juan, 6-1, 180, Sr.
Safety snared seven picks, grabbed two fumble recoveries and made 87 tackles. "He is a great hitter with superb timing." -- Coach Art Burtenshaw.
AARON ENGLEBRIGHT, Grand County, 5-10, 185, Jr.
Good coverage defender also had some great offensive skills. He had 73 receptions (and 12 in one game) for 941 yards and nine TDs.
RYAN CRUM, Duchesne, 5-10, 155, Sr.
Versatile player made 97 tackles (40 solo), had six sacks, averaged 21.1 yards a kickoff return, 16.2 yards on punt returns, and rushed for 659 yards.
SPECIALIST
BROCK JOHNSON, South Summit, 5-11, 170, Sr.
Great all-around talent and leader for the Wildcats. "He's probably the most outstanding player we have as far as overall ability." -- Coach Garry Walker.
