PROVO -- Brigham Young University Conferences and Workshops will sponsor "International Folk Dance for Youth," featuring traditional Irish dance in the spirit of "Riverdance."

Classes will be every Monday from Jan. 4 to April 19, 1999, in the BYU Conference Center. Students in third through sixth grades will meet from 5 to 6 p.m., and students in seventh through 12th grades will meet from 6 to 7 p.m.The classes will be taught for those between the ages of 8 and 18 at four different levels: (1) beginning students in third through sixth grades, (2) continuing students in third through sixth grades, (3) beginning students in seventh through 12th grades and (4) continuing students in seventh through 12th grades.

Students will learn dances from Eastern and Western Europe, the British Isles, Mexico, the Middle East, East Asia and the Americas.

Jeanette Geslison, faculty member in the Folk Dance Division at BYU, will be the instructor.

The cost of the classes is $75. Registration is limited, so register early. Gift certificates and workshop T-shirts are available before Christmas.
