Matthew Ethan Wade, age 6 month passed away early Sunday December 6, 1998 at Primary Children's Medical Center from multiple complications following two liver transplants.
Born May 31 1998, in Salt Lake City, Utah to parents Stephanie and Mark Wade, active members of the Eagle Gate 18th North Ward of the LDS Church. Our angel baby has returned to live with his Heavenly Father after a courageous battle to combat the effects of a hereditary family disease that has claimed the lives of 19 uncles and cousins over five generations. Matthew was the light of his parents and sister's life and adored by all who knew him. In his short time with us, Matthew contributed much to the research of the disease, Ornithine Transcarbambylase Deficiency.Parents and family would like to thank the countless doctors and medical staff at PCMC who worked so diligently and lovingly to keep Matthew with us for so long. The family wishes to express their admiration to Mark for his selfless sacrifice and willingness to donate a portion of his own liver to his son and wish him a speedy recovery. Sincere thanks also go to the brave family that donated the second liver. Matthew's parents would urge other families to consider the gift of life in organ donation.
Matthew is survived by his parents and his sister, Elizabeth, age 4; grandparents Lloyd and Gwen Wade, and grandfather Sterling Sumner, great-grandmother Edna Foote all of Salt Lake City, and preceded in death by his grandmother, Donna J. Bird Sumner and Uncle Christian Charles Sumner.
