FARMINGTON -- A Davis County correctional officer was arrested and booked into the same jail where he worked after an investigation alleged he had sexual relationships with three female inmates.
The deputy, Michael Carnahan, 32, was placed on suspension after an internal investigation, Davis County Sheriff's Lt. Roger Anderson said.Carnahan allegedly became involved with three female inmates from September through October, Anderson said.
Although the relationships appeared consensual, Anderson said it was apparent some coercion was used.
"In any event, the misconduct was absolutely inappropriate, unprofessional and beneath the high standards we preach every day," Sheriff Rob Davis said.
The investigation started after a female inmate who was not involved with Carnahan told authorities of the alleged activities with three other women inmates.
Anderson said the inmates have since been released from jail.
Carnahan, arrested last week for investigation of sexual assault, has since bailed out of jail after posting $20,000 bond, Anderson said.
No formal charges have been filed.
