KALL Radio (AM-910) now has the broadcast rights to the "Jim Rome" sports talk show and started airing the program Wednesday.
The live show runs weekdays from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.KFNZ (alias "K-Fan") AM-1320 previously aired the Rome program but lost the rights to the show after its contract expired.
According to KALL program director Larry Crandall, the station had the inside track on securing Rome's show. That's because the distributor of Rome's program -- Premier Network -- is also owned by Jaycor Broadcasting, KALL's parent company.
Crandall said KALL is excited to have Rome because he's the pre-eminent radio sports talk-show host in the nation.
Rome has a high-energy style and numerous high-caliber sports contacts. His listener call-ins are also usually void of the scatterbrain callers that some sports shows are plagued with.
The Rome show follows Tom Barberi's talk show and leads into the Chris Tunis sports talk program on KALL.
KFNZ is replacing Rome with expanded local programming. "The Wise Man" show with Dave Blackwell will air from 10 a.m. to noon and "The Sports Grill" with Craig Bolerjack and John Lund will be on from noon-4 p.m.
