Death: Anna S. Haertel

Anna Sophie Bredthauer Haertel, 91, died January 30, 1998 at her home after a courageous battle against cancer.

She was born September 20, 1906 in Heuerssen, Germany to Henry and Anna Seemeier Bredthauer. She married Fritz E. Haertel, February 19, 1931 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.She is survived by her husband; three sons and one daughter, Ronald (Cynthia) of Layton; Alvin (Toni) of Glendale, AZ; Robert (Nancy) of Sioux Falls, SD; Barbara (Gregory) Cole of Monroe, WA; 21 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren and one great great-grandson; brother, Henry (Marian) Bredthauer of Bountiful; sister, Sophie Nagel of Salt Lake City. Preceded in death by a daughter, LouAnn; sister, Karoline; brother, Fred; granddaughter, Margaret; great-grandson, K.C. and great-granddaughter, Elizabeth.

She worked at Continental Bakery for 24 years. She also worked alongside her husband at the Bee Hive Bakery until she was 85 years old. Mama was dedicated to working hard, which included raising a family, a family business, gardening and being a friend to all. She lived life with a positive attitude and always a smile on her face. She left this life with grace and dignity. Everyone who knew her will be forever blessed with her kind and gracious touch.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 3, 1998, 12 noon, in the Eagle Gate 1st/20th Ward Chapel, 107 G St. Friends may call at

Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple, Monday evening 7-9 p.m. and at the church Tuesday, one hour prior to the service. Interment, Salt Lake City Cemetery.
