The Utah Division of Business and Economic Development has allocated $205,955 to 21 projects statewide.
The projects include $50,000 to develop a business and marketing plan, as well as to buy computer equipment, for the Blanding Arts and Conference Center; $25,000 for engineering costs of an industrial park in Panguitch; and $25,000 for start-up costs of a telecommunications network to connect Washington County residents and busi-nesses with economic development opportunities.Other projects funded with grants from the Local Economic Development Initiatives include:
- $15,000 to the Economic Development Corp. of Utah to develop a recruitment partnership with the Department of Community and Economic Development.
- $10,000 to Box Elder County for economic development planning in the Grouse Creek area, to Tropic for preliminary work for remodeling a facility for Bryce Valley artists, to the Uintah Basin to create a marketing brochure and to Uintah County to study a possible phosphate processing and distribution plant.
- $7,500 for a feasibility study of a welding and metal fabrication industry on the Goshute Indian Res-ervation.
- A $5,000 grant to the Bear Lake Regional Commission to produce an economic development fact book for Rich County and to Wasatch County to develop a brochure to promote Soldier Hollow, the 2002 Olympic cross-country and biathlon site.
