Death: Archie T. Thompson

Archie Thomas Thompson, age 71 of Payson, passed away Saturday,

February 7, 1998 at the Veterans Administration Regional Medical Center in Salt Lake City.He was born February 25, 1926 in Garfield, Utah, a son of Thomas Leo and Bernice Sellers Thompson. He married Joyce Whiting, November 25, 1944 in Payson.

Archie was educated in Provo and Payson Schools and attended Brigham Young University. He served in the US Army during World War II. He was a life-time member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion, Post 48. He worked as a hard rock miner throughout the United States. He raised and raced Thoroughbred Horses. He loved the Desert and the wild horses. He loved to dance, hunt, treasured life, and loved his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce, of Payson. Three daughters and three sons: Sherry (James) Hallam, Juneau, Alaska; Debera Jasper, Payson; Gail (Mike) Provstgaard, Palmyra; Randy (Darlene) Thompson, Prescott, Arizona; Kelly (Carol) Thompson, Santaquin; and Terry Thompson, Payson. 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Three brothers and 4 sisters: Leo (Eva) Thompson, Lawrence (Ruth) Thompson, Donna and Blaine Baker, all of Payson; Jarvie (Trudy) Thompson, Pleasant Grove; Jessie (Paul) Christen, Orem; Weltha (Glen) Johnson, Dundee, Oregon; Dorothy (Jack) Makin, Lehi; He was preceded in death by 2 brothers and a sister: J.C., Richard, and Naomi Thompson.

Services will be Thursday, February 12, 1998, 12:00 noon, in the West Mountain 2nd LDS Ward Chapel, 3 miles West of Payson on Utah Ave. Friends may call at the Walker Mortuary, 587 South 100 West, Payson, Wednesday, 6-8:00 p.m., or at the church Thursday, 11-11:45 a.m. Burial will be in the Payson City Cemetery, with military rites accorded by the V.F.W., Dist. #4.
