MEN'S VOLLEYBALL: The BYU men's volleyball team will be at home for a match Friday night with Southern California.

The teams will play at 7 p.m at the Smith Fieldhouse. BYU is now ranked third in the nation following last week's trip to California.

MEN'S TRACK: The BYU men's track team will send 10 tracksters to the Husker Invitational this weekend in Lincoln, Neb., and the remainder of the team will compete in a three-team meet at Idaho State in Pocatello against Idaho State and Weber State.

Competing at the Husker will be sprinters, hurdlers and weight men with distance runners the focus at Idaho State.

- The BYU women will also compete at the Husker Invitational and at a three-team meet at Idaho State this week against Idaho State and Weber State as they seek additional national qualifying marks. Both meets will be held on Saturday.

BASEBALL: This week's action could determine whether BYU's baseball team gets off to its best start in school history as the Cougars co-host the Ed Stangue Toyo-ta Tournament in St. George.

The Cougars, 5-0, meet the University of San Francisco on Friday at 3:30 p.m., again on Saturday at 12:30 p.m., and then play Southern Utah University on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.

BYU is off to its best start since 5-0 records in 1988 and 1984.

Weber State

WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: After a week and a half off due to a scheduling bye, the Wildcats are back in action this week with Big Sky games at Idaho State on Thursday and at Montana State on Saturday. The game at Idaho State tips off at 7:05 p.m. while the Montana State game begins at 7:35.

TRACK & FIELD: It is a "battle of the cats" in Pocatello, Idaho, Friday as the men's and women's indoor track and field teams from Idaho State, BYU and Weber State, get together for a double dual meet. The meet is being held inside Holt Arena on the campus of Idaho State University in Pocatello. It begins with field events at 5:30 p.m.

TENNIS: Weber State's men's and women's tennis teams take to the road this week in dual-match action in Nevada. The men will play in the UNLV Invitational Friday through Sunday at the Fertitta Tennis Complex on the UNLV campus. Men's teams from Colorado, Texas-Arlington, Northern Arizona, New Mexico State, Nevada, Utah State and the host No. 41 Rebels will play in this event.

WEBER HOSTS PREP MEET: The annual Weber State University Developmental Indoor Track and Field meet is set for this coming Friday and Saturday at the Swenson Multi-Purpose Arena.

The meet, which brings together track and field athletes from high schools through the area, begins on Friday at 5 p.m. with field events. The running events are set for Saturday at 9 a.m.
