Swiss tennis star to trek some Himalayan trails

Martina Hingis has already climbed to the top of the tennis rankings. Next up are some Himalayan trails.

Hingis arrived in Nepal on Wednesday, planning to visit a rural health center in Dhumbibas Village about 90 miles west of the Nepalese capital Katmandu. The center is funded by the Swiss teenager and run by the World Health Organization. She is a goodwill ambassador for WHO to help expand its immunization program - and plans to make good use of her spare time as well.

"I have always heard about the mountains and the Himalayas of Nepal," Hingis said after she arrived. "I will be trekking but not anything that is over 8,000 meters (26,400 feet)."
