Howe boosts Roy to Region 4 crown

Crystal Howe banged home 22 points and hauled in 19 rebounds to help Roy defeat Mountain Crest 68-59 and claim the Region 4 title Thursday.

Roy had entered the contest tied with Weber for the region's top spot with 9-4 records but claimed sole possession of the crown thanks to Sky View's win over the Warriors.Kadie Miles added 15 points and Katie Hotchkiss chipped in 11 point and 16 rebounds for the Royals, who led 18-9 after the first quarter and made the advantage stand.

Mountain Crest was paced by Jamie Zilles 20-point effort.

MOUNTAIN VIEW 81, OREM 49: The Bruins completed another unbeaten region season by blistering the Tigers as Lisa Osguthorpe had 18 points. Kristen Saliby did most of the work for Orem with 30 points.

JORDAN 63, BRIGHTON 36: Tiffany Pugmire collected 19 points and the Beetdiggers led from start to finish in a caging of the Bengals.

ALTA 67, TIMPANOGOS 20: Lindsay Logan tallied 19 points and five assists, while teammate Bugs Carbone added 17 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Hawks to a home victory.

REGION 4

SKY VIEW 61, WEBER 54: Audrey Young netted 20 points and Melissa Nyman added 18 more for the Bobcats, who spoiled the Warriors' hope of sharing the region title.

LOGAN 69, FREMONT 56: Erin Wilson led a balanced attack by the Grizzlies with 19 points as the Silver Wolves suffered their third-straight loss.

BOX ELDER 53, BONNEVILLE 51: Janie Johnson's two free throws with 16 seconds to play gave the Bees their only lead of the game and handed the Lakers another hearbreaking defeat. Julie Patterson led Box Elder with 22 points.

REGION 6

TIMPVIEW 62, PROVO 52: The second-ranked Thunderbirds completed an undefeated region season by caging the Bulldogs as Ruth Donaldson racked up 24 points.

LONE PEAK 59, PAYSON 46: Amber Harr hit five 3-pointers and finished with 22 points and Lindsay Doxey added 10 rebounds as the third-ranked Knights ran away in the fourth quarter to clinch the second place in the region.

SPRINGVILLE 68, SPANISH FORK 38: The Red Devils used a strong defensive effort and Adrienne Nelson's 24 points to pin a loss on the Dons.

REGION 7

TOOELE 69, BEN LOMOND 58: Tasha Raddatz banged in 26 points, Leah Roberts added 18 more and the Buffs used a big fourth quarter to outdistance the Scots.

MORGAN 62, GRANITE 36: The Trojans came to life in the second half to march over the Farmers. Paige Hansen paced Morgan with 16 points.

REGION 9

SNOW CANYON 81, DIXIE 58: Dani Shaheen racked up 20 points and Chanell Rose and Jana Bundy combined for 25 points and 28 rebounds to lead the second-ranked Warriors by the Flyers.

PINE VIEW 56, CEDAR CITY 47: Kami Newville had 13 points for the Lady Reds, but it wasn't enough as they were outscored 18-8 in the fourth quarter by the victorious Panthers.

REGION 11

BEAVER 74, NORTH SEVIER 62: Huge efforts by Shannon Bradshaw and Brittney Gillins paced the Beavers by the Wolves. Bradshaw had 26 points and seven steals and Gillins added 21 points.

ENTERPRISE 68, MILLARD 53: Katherine Hess poured in 23 points and the Wolves shot 76 percent from the floor in the second half to pull away for the win.

REGION 12

JUAB 76, ST. JOSEPH 20: The top-ranked Wasps had little problem with the Jayhawks thanks to Marcie Jackson's 20-point showing.

GRANTSVILLE 34, GUNNISON 33: Annie Williams netted 18 points and for the second-straight game the Cowboys used a fourth-quarter rally to earn the win.

REGION 13

SAN JUAN 55, MONTICELLO 33: The Broncos took an early lead and bucked the Buckaroos as Cindy Singer tossed in 16 points.

REGION 15

PIUTE 43, MILFORD 28: Brianne Torgersen led a balanced attack by the Thunderbirds with 11 points as they pulled away in the second half to top the Tigers.

S.L. LUTHERAN 69, WATERFORD 51: Landon Gobelman burned the nets for 31 points and the Lynx grabbed a big victory over one of the top four teams in the region on Senior Night.

WENDOVER 86, WEST DESERT 66: Sloan Sweat hit six 3-pointers and finished with 28 points for the Wildcats, who overcame a sluggish start to ground the Hawks. Travis Grossman added 14 for Wendover.

MOUNT VERNON 77, TINTIC 59: Keith Semken and Jeff Johnson combined for 47 points to help the Patriots earn a big road victory.

REGION 15

VALLEY 66, WAYNE 58: Nathan Hoyt collected 21 points, and the Buffaloes used a big 19-4 third quarter effort to pull away from the Badgers.

PIUTE 79, BRYCE VALLEY 76: The Thunderbirds rallied in the fourth quarter for the victory as Trail Kreitzer tossed in 22 points.
