MICHELE KNUDSVIG, Salt Lake Lutheran: Senior point guard, who is also a talented volleyball player, has been a sparkplug for the Lynx all year. She is averaging 16.4 points, 3.5 assists and four steals.
S.L. Lutheran coach Shelly Davis loves the presence the 5-foot-5 Knudsvig gives her on the court. "She dominates the game skillwise," said Davis, "but she doesn't come on the floor with an attitude. She's definitely a leader."Knudsvig, who carries a 3.98 GPA, is also the senior class vice president, helps with peer ministry, is on the Orrin Hatch youth advisory committee and volunteers in the community.
"I just think the world of her," Davis said. "She'd have my vote if she ran for mayor."
BRAD SAVAGE, Lehi: Senior finished his prep diving career with a big splash as he led the
Pioneers to the 3A state championship by winning his third straight individual title last week in Park City.
Savage won the competition by 47 points, finishing with an impressive overall score of 427. He will be gunning for two more state titles this weekend when he competes in the 50-meter and 100-meter freestyle races. That despite the fact that he's only competitively swam for two years.
"He's just a really kind person who is dedicated to what he does," said Lehi coach Dennis Meyring. "He works hard and is a very reliable kid. He's a really fine boy."
Savage, who has a 3.2 GPA, enjoys working with horses in his spare time.
