Death: Roland Emery Dutson

Our beloved husband, dad, and grandpa, Roland Emery Dutson, age 60, returned to his Heavenly Father on Thursday February l2, 1998, after a courageous battle with A.L.S. (Lou Gehrig's Disease).

Roland was born March 9, 1937 in Oak City to Emery C. and Lemira Roper Dutson. He attended Oak City Elementary School, graduated from Delta High School, class of '55. Served in the California Mission '59-'61. He married Roberta Lovell, March 9, 1962, in the Manti LDS Temple.He was an avid hunter, an ardent fisherman, and an enthusiastic basketball player. His goal was to play basketball until age 60, but had to give it up at age 57 due to A.L.S. Roland loved to work. He and his brothers, Calvin and Howard, owned and operated Dutson Supply cement and trucking business in Delta, for 28 years. He was a perfectionist, taking pride in cement finishing and in his yard and garden, winning numerous yard awards.

He held many positions in the LDS. Church, currently serving as a counselor in the Delta Utah West Stake Presidency. For the past three years Hebrews 12:1 has been his motto. "And let us run with patience, the race that is set before us." He has touched the lives of many and has been a wonderful example of faith, courage, and enduring to the end in righteousness to his family and friends.

He loved his children and has opened his heart to many foster children. His greatest joys were his eight grandchildren: Nick, Brandon, Dylan Roland, and McKenna Dutson; Michael and Brandi Jo Hillock; Trexton and Elisa Lozano. He is also survived by his wife, Roberta; children: Rusty (Margaret) Dutson, Jenny (fiancee, Alan Sharp), Serena, Allison Dutson, all Delta; JoLynn (Greg) Hillock, Springville; Karalina (Joel) Lozano, Parowan; Dixeen, Marisa Dutson, both Provo; Brothers and Sisters: Calvin (Vernell) Dutson, Howard (Afton) Dutson, Rachel (John) Wright, all Oak City; Wesley (Sharon) Dutson, West Jordan, Melba (Max) Bennett, Inglewood, California.

Funeral services will be held Mon. Feb l6, 1998 at 11 a.m. in the Delta West Stake Center, Hinckley, Utah. Friends may call Sunday, Feb. 15, 1998, 7-8 p.m. at Nickle Mortuary l90 S Center, Delta, and at the Stake Center, Monday 10-10:45 a.m. Burial will be in the Oak City Cemetery.
