Bicycles are a common site in Nagano, Japan, where most city dwellers live in tiny apartments referred to as manshons and where even tourists and media rent bicycles just to get around. When Salt Lake City follows suit in hosting the Winter Olympics in 2002, parking places and burglar alarms may have to give way to bicycle racks and locks.
