Manitoba manhandles Grizz, 9-2, sweeps weekend series

Scott Arniel recorded his first hat trick of the season as part of a four-point game and Brad Purdie added a goal and four assists as the Manitoba Moose crushed the Utah Grizzlies, 9-2 Saturday.

Brett Hauer had three assists and Fred Brathwaite made 28 saves for the Moose, who swept the weekend series and extended their winning streak to four games.Manitoba took a 3-0 lead after one period on goals by Michel Mongeau, Scott Thomas and Arn-iel. Hauer and Purdue each had two assists during a four-goal second period that included Arniel's second tally of the game. Arniel capped the hat trick with 3:32 to play. Jaroslav Modry and Mark Lawrence scored for Utah, which suffered its most lopsided defeat of the season.

The Grizzlies are in Milwaukee tonight to complete a stretch that featured three road games on consecutive days.

Utah's next home game is Wednesday against Houston. Face-off is set for 7 p.m. at the E Center.
