Myndee Larsen was a one-woman gang on senior night Saturday night, scoring 33 points on 15-of-16 shooting from the floor, pulling down 12 rebounds and blocking five shots to lead Southern Utah past Western Illinois, 80-71. The win pulled the Thunderbirds even with the Westerwinds, at 5-8 and moved them into a tie for sixth-place in Mid-Continent Conference play.
"Myndee was everything she's been advertised to be tonight," SUU coach Joe Hillock said. "It was her last game at home and she gave the home fans something to remember. She was able to take advantage of her size advantage inside on the offensive end and was able to change a lot of the things they did on the defensive end."Southern Utah scored the first five points of the second half to take a 48-40 lead, but WIU battled back to tie the game at 64-64 with 5:45 remaining. The Thunderbirds limited the Westerwinds to just three buckets the rest of the way, however, in notching their 13th win of the season.
