Thousands of Florida diners told to get tuberculosis test

Thousands of Florida diners are being urged to have tuberculosis tests after a busboy at a steak restaurant was diagnosed with the infectious disease.

Pam Johnson, general manager of Ruth's Chris Steak House in North Palm Beach, said Saturday the staff member had worked at the restaurant for seven years but had stopped working due to illness on Jan. 26."The health department wants people to be tested even though my (other) employees were tested and the board of health gave them the 100 percent OK," Johnson said.

Johnson said she ordered her staff to take tests as soon as the health department contacted her on Feb. 6, which is when she found out about the busboy's condition.
