Dixie, SLCC and CSI lead SWAC hoop race

The Scenic West Athletic Conference basketball has boiled down to a three-team race with two weeks left in the regular season.

Dixie, Salt Lake Community College, and Southern Idaho are fighting for the top spot.In last Friday's marquee game, Eddie Gill scored 28 points as Salt Lake outscored took a 91-80 win over the Rebels. Salt Lake (11-3, 21-5) moved to within a half game of the Rebels (12-3, 24-3).

Dixie slipped past Utah Valley 81-69 Saturday, while Salt Lake edged Snow 92-88 to keep pace.

Southern Idaho (11-3, 23-3) is also a half game back after splitting a pair on the road. The Golden Eagles dropped a 79-76 overtime decision to Ricks College but bounced back for an 85-77 win over North Idaho.

Ricks (10-5, 20-7) maintained an outside shot at the crown with the win over Southern Idaho, along with a 109-61 thrashing of Treasure Valley on Saturday. Utah Valley (8-6, 19-7) held on to fifth place with a 74-61 win over Snow.
