Robber needs instruction to drive his victim's car

A robber who wasn't sure how to drive his victim's car asked for instructions before making off with it and some of her cash Sunday afternoon.

A woman was getting out of her car at Universal Campus Credit Union, 1900 N. Canyon Road, at 4:45 p.m. when a man wielding a handgun approached her, said Provo Police Capt. Keith Teuscher. He took a small amount of cash, got into her white Mercury Sable and told her to walk away. The man called the woman back when he couldn't figure out how to put the car in drive, Teuscher said. She told him the gear shift wouldn't move unless the brake pedal was pushed down. The man followed her directions and sped away with her vehicle.
