Death: Neva H. Smith

Neva Almira Harper Smith, 75, of Salt Lake City died Thursday, February 12, 1998 at her home.

She was born March 13, 1922 in Pikeville, North Carolina the daughter of William Walter and Alma Ishmael Aycock Harper. She married J. Theron Smith on June 28, 1944 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He preceded her in death in December 1991.Neva was a wife, mother of twelve, grandmother, provident homemaker, teacher, quilter, genealogist, plant grower, avid reader, organizer, friend, and seamstress. She touched many lives for good. One of her life motto's was "Fix it up, wear it out, make it do, or do without". She lived in Orem for 23 years before moving to Salt Lake City.

She is survived by her ten children: Steven Smith, Wanda Wood, Wilma Fullmer, and Wendell Smith all of Orem, Utah; Rebecca Johnson of Castledale, Utah; Shirley Olson of Arkadelphia, Arkansas; Pamela Werner of Maumelle, Arkansas; Barbara Qadri of Los Altos, California; David Smith of Springville, Utah; and Bryan Smith of Brigham City, Utah. She is also survived by 37 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and four sisters: Lavina Harper of Salt Lake City, Utah; Lettie Willmore of Orem, Utah; Wilma Hirschmann of Greenbelt, Maryland; and Vivian Pope of Godding, Idaho. She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Nancy Jo; a son, Roger; a brother, William A Harper, Jr.; and her parents.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 17, 1998 at 11 a.m. in the Salt Lake 14th Ward Chapel, 142 West 200 North. Friends and family may call on Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 East 800 North, Orem, or on Tuesday at the church one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the Elysian Burial Gardens, 1075 East 4580 South, Salt Lake City.

The family suggest that in lieu of flowers contributions be made to the Family History Library or the Hospice Foundation.
