Death: Vera Thacker Rasband

Vera Maria Thacker Rasband, age 66 passed from this life in the company of her loved ones on Monday evening February 16th, 1998. It must have been a wonderful family night reunion for her as she met her father, mother and brother who were waiting expectantly for her on the other side of the veil. She left a legacy of love and service here on this earth for all of her family members.

She was born on December 14, 1931 in Charleston, Utah to Ray Alva Thacker and Mima Casper Thacker. She married Joseph R. Rasband on September 14, 1950 in the Salt Lake L.D.S. Temple. Vera was constantly giving to others whether as a Relief Society President, Young Womens President, chorister or teacher in service to her church or as a loving caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and neighbor. Her concern was always for others. She was a peacemaker and friend. Her grandchildren will long remember sleeping outside in the backyard with grandma in the tent. Stories were told, jokes were enjoyed and love was shared. For her children and grandchildren, no summer was complete without hearing about growing up in Charleston, riding her horse, Bobbi, and working at the sawmill in the Uintah Mountains. She had a special love for her cherished friends and neighbors, the Clydes, who did so much for her during her illness, the MaWhinney family for their love and support, and for the Thacker family who built a ramp at her home to accommodate her wheelchair.Survived by her husband, Joseph of Heber; children: Paul (Jennifer) Rasband of American Fork, Ut; Carol (Gary) Williams of Mesa, AZ; Ray and Richard Rasband both of Heber City, Ut; Philip (Jeannine) Rasband and Kirk Rasband, all of Salt Lake City; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild; brothers, Joseph R. Thacker of West Valley City, Ut; Vern C. Thacker of Heber City, Ut; Dan F. Thacker of San Rafael, CA; sisters, Doris Thacker of Yuba City, CA; ReNee Carlile and Marva Edwards, both of Heber City, Utah. Preceded in death by parents, and brother, Dale Thacker.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 19, 1998 at 11 a.m. at the Heber 7th Ward, 240 E. 400 So. Friends may call Wednesday evening 6-8 p.m. at the Olpin Mortuary and at the church on Thursday one hour prior to services. Burial will follow in the Heber City Cemetery.
