Special valentine for club: Madonna

A Valentine's Day crowd of 2,000 was dancing the night away to recorded music at the Roxy in Chelsea. But when the clock struck 2 a.m., a vision appeared: Madonna, in a black net top, bringing down the house to give her first live performance in four years.

Her spokesman, Liz Rosenberg, said that Madonna, whose appearance had been rumored but still came as something of a surprise, "wanted to go back to her roots" at the club where she sang 14 years ago.Madonna, who has guarded her privacy since the birth of her daughter, Lourdes, in 1996, sang numbers from her forthcoming album, "Ray of Light."
