Death: Michael Hugh Christensen - (Dr. Mike)

Michael Hugh Christensen, D.D.S., 49, died February 18,1998 at home of complications due to diabetes.

He was born March 19, 1948 to Drew Christensen and Maurine Marcella Rich. He married his high school sweetheart, Karen Fisher on March 13, 1970 in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they worked and played, always side by side. He fulfilled an LDS mission to Austria. Served as a bishop, High Councilman, and District President's Counselor. He was best known as a teacher. Michael touched many people with his ability to teach the gospel of Jesus Christ. His life was one of service to his family and friends. Some of his favorite things were listening to his children sing, wave-running at Deer Creek and driving anywhere in his motor home with his son, Andrew. He loved his library and going to BYU Education Week. He had a contagious laugh and the classic "Christensen Humor." He loved his dog JJ. and being a grandpa made him young again for just a little while. He is immensely loved and will be cherished in our hearts forever. He graduated from South High School, was a class officer and captain of the football team, known as "Sugar-Bear." He graduated from the University of Utah and West Virginia Dental School. He never stopped learning.Michael is survived by his wife, Karen; children - Michele (Eric) Smith, Kimberly (Jim) Neerings, Wendi, Andrew, and SueAnn, along with two beautiful grand babies Drew and Gwyndolyn. Also mother, Maurine, and siblings Carol (Jack, Peterson-Lewis), Richard (Lynda), David (Sharon). Preceded in death by daughter Juleen, father Drew and brother-in-law Reed.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Feb. 21, 1998, 12 noon at the Meadows Ward Chapel, 5735 So. Fashion Blvd. Family and friends may call Friday from 6 - 8 pm at Jenkins-Soffe Mort., 4760 So. State and Sat. 11 - 11:45 am at the church. Interment - Bountiful City Cemetery.
