Death: Thomas Archibald Jones

T. Arch Jones, died February 18, 1998 at his home in Hooper, Utah.

He was born in Hooper, Utah, July 31, 1906, a son of Thomas M. and Matilda McFarland Jones. He spent most of his life in Hooper. He married Edna Christensen January 15, 1932 in the Salt Lake Temple. She died September 19, 1965. He married Ethel Aleen Hunt in the Salt Lake Temple June 16, 1966. Arch farmed most of his life, but in addition, he worked at Hill Air Force Base for about 23 years. He had a love for horses and was known for his ability as a trainer. He was a 4H Horse Club leader and presented clinics and judged horse shows for 4H Clubs. He served in the LDS British Mission from 1928-1930. In 1975-77 he and his wife, Aleen served in the South Dakota Rapid City Mission. He held many positions and callings in the LDS Church. Arch frequently participated in local dramatics, and was known for his humorous readings.He is survived by his wife, Aleen; and son, Chris A. (Cindy) Jones, of Hooper; and the following grandchildren, Cheryl Martin, Roger, Jeremy, Shauna, Krista, Dallin, and Rebecca Jones. He has eight great-grandchildren and seven foster children; and one brother, Robert E. Jones, of Salt Lake City. He was preceded in death by his brothers, James, Elbert, and Evan and his sisters, Veta Waddoups, Maude Rigby, Matilda Cunnington, and Alice Bybee.

The family suggests that a fitting remembrance of Arch would be a contribution in his name to Vista Hospice Care, who cared for him so lovingly (address: 924 24th St. #1, Ogden, UT 84401), or a charity of your choice.

Funeral services will he held at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 21, at the Hooper North Chapel, 5900 West 5000 South, Hooper, UT, with Bishop Bart Manning of the Hooper 8th Ward officiating. Friends may call at Myers Mortuary, 5865 South 1900 West, Roy, Friday from 6-8 p.m. and at the Hooper North Chapel on Saturday 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Interment in the Hooper Cemetery.
