162 law schools assail rankings by U.S. News

The law school rankings awaited each year by prospective students and worker-hungry law firms have a poor grasp of the facts and should be ignored, 162 of the nation's law schools say.

The annual rankings by U.S. News & World Report has "many serious problems" and the magazine should stop the practice, the nonprofit Association of American Law Schools said Wednesday.The rankings to be released this week are "misleading and dangerous," said John Sexton, dean of the New York University School of Law and an association member.

But the magazine stood by its tradition.
