Philanthropist from R.I. to match food donations

Donations of more than $25 made to Utah food programs before Feb. 14 will be matched by a Rhode Island philanthropist.

Alan Shawn Feinstein has pledged to donate up to $1 million to the nation's food pantries, soup kitchens and food resource programs.Donations of more than $25 will be matched by the Feinstein Foundation. Utah agencies eligible for the matching money include the Utah Food Bank, Community Action Program food pantries, Salvation Army and St. Vincent de Paul.

To be eligible for the Feinstein Foundation money, donation checks must be dated between Feb. 4 and Feb. 14. They must be for $25 or more and received by the nonprofit agency by Feb. 17.
